A good transfer financial aid package?

To my understanding, I'm pretty happy with it, but I'd just like some input from people who know a bit more about this than I do.

COA: $54,970
Grants: $45,950
Work-Study: $2,200
Subsidized Loan: $4,500
Unsub Loan: $2,000

So, out of pocket payment is $320.

Like I said, to my understanding this is good, but my understanding is fairly limited. I'd appreciate some input.

Thanks!

Very good! Congrats!

So are you transferring from one college to another? If so, what year are you in school?

Question to everyone. do colleges give much FA to transfer students?

netthreat, There’s a LOT of variety in how much aid is available for transfers. Some schools have merit aid that is specifically geared to transfer students. (In my experience, state schools have those because they’re targeting top community college students.) Other ‘meet full need’ schools are willing to meet transfers’ needs. It just depends on the school. Remember that even schools that aren’t need blind may meet full need. Lots of schools aren’t need blind to transfers but they may be generous to one they want. If you’re thinking of transferring, you really need to call each school.

Thanks, mom2collegekids.

@netthreat - yes, I’m transferring from a 4 year state school to a smaller LAC as an incoming sophomore transfer.

Very nice. Congratulations.

Fabulous! Celebrate!!

I think that is a great package under any scenario.

omg linala, that’s awesome!!! congratulations ;-)

It’s excellent. You are very fortunate. The majority of colleges don’t meet the financial need of transfers. Some don’t give transfers any financial aid.
