Have you taken an IQ test? How about an introductory psychology course? The IQ test can be studied and prepared for just like any other test. It is formulaic and shows little more than how well you do at taking an IQ test. Some of the smartest people have low IQ scores, and some of the dumbest have high ones.

If I were going to brag about IQ, I's start the brag at 160.

Massguy has the best point. I don't think many at Harvard feel like they pulled something over on anyone. While many, and even most, are very modest, they all do something very well and passionately. They all put endless hours into doing something extremely well. Makes for an amazingly dynamic community.

dude, there are like 5 ppl on earth with an IQ of 160....

133 is not that much to brag about tho.... by definition 140 is genius, so 133 would be smart/clever

Dude, if there are like 5 "ppl" on Earth with an IQ /score/ of 160, I'm pretty lucky to have one in my family. Also, there are several versions of the IQ test out there, so 140 is not the genius cut-off on each.

You are correct in assuming that I do not have a family member with a 160. This is because, again, there is no such thing as having an IQ. You have an IQ /score/. Saying you have an IQ is like saying you have an ACT.

Yes, one of my sisters is eligible to be a member of the Triple Nine Society. Uncoincidentally, she is married to a psychologist who studied IQ tests and their (many) flaws while in grad school. Like most high scorers, she studied basic information about the tests -- obtained from her husband's old college textbooks -- before taking it and achieved a score of 163.

just look at my name...

no, you have an IQ - intelligence quotient, not an intelligence quotient score. that's redundant. nitpicking
back to orrican - you do not have a hook. but you still may get in. :)

Aha! I was wondering how long it would take before someone tried that one. ;) In psychology terminology, it is indeed "IQ score."

i stand corrected. :)
