A good hook?

I do not have great ECs:
-School newspaper
-Soccer team
-Internship at PR office

I have been writing for my whole life and it's definitely one of my strengths. I am 16 going on 17, so I know this is a bit ambitious, but I have connections because my dad's a writer (therefore I have easy access to an editor, publisher, etc.) My plan, for a "hook", is to write a book. What do you think? Is it useless to dedicate so much time to it unless it's like a #1 bestseller (which I don't think it will be)? I love writing and would not only do it to get into college, but it really takes a LOT of time and I already have the full IB diploma plus community service and soccer and a couple of APs.

WDYT?

BUMP! Please

You can’t just develop a hook, for the most part. A hook is something like URM, legacy, IMO competitor, athletic recruitment, etc. However, publishing a book would definitely make your application shine.

Write it and see if it works.

Sure, but it has to actually sell. Harvard had a girl with a very successful book and a seven figure contract for more until she was accused of plagiarism a few years back.

Okay. Here I go I guess.

BTW thanks for clarifying the definition of a “hook” I thought it was just like anything extra!
