Hi, at my school, I am currently taking 5 AP classes, in which I have three As and two B+s (AP calc and AP english) Several people are currently taking thse classes honors level and have As, ensuring that heir UW GPAs will be higher. However, with my current GPA I stand a reasonable shot at val or sal of my class. Would attaining this make up somewhat for those two B+s, especially if they were to improve 2nd semester?

get As in AP classes.

...that doesn't answer his question.

IMO, B+'s in APs are much better than A's in Honors. As an AP student, I took 4 APs in Junior year - 3 is pretty uncommon, but 4 is just insanity in my school. I got 3 B+'s and 1 A-... sometimes I regret it because it brought my UW GPA to a 3.6, but I know that I really achieved a lot regardless.

^^^ this all depends where you want to go to school......if UMich is top on your list, you are significantly better off with the A's in honors than the B+ in AP.....UMich penalizes B's at any level with a 3.0 value.
If however, you are applying to privates, AP's are preferred even with B+'s.

neethus: feel your pain; D1 had the same issue......but entered college w 17AP credits so I guess it all works out in the end....

Yes @ rodney!!!

I will be getting a CRAPLOAD of credits... I got 4's in 4 AP tests. Assuming I get 4's in all my AP tests again this year, I'll be graduating one semester (or even one year depending on where I go) early =) Saves me money AND time...

ok but what if we are talking about Bs APs.
just straight up low to mid Bs.

yeah what about B-, like what I have in AP Physics and Calc

I'm not sure, but wouldn't it matter on your major? I'm applying for Political Science/International Relations - my math grades (although in accelerated courses) are terrifying, except for an A in AP Stat this year.

i am planning on majoring in biology.

I'd say B+ in AP. I don't know how admissions views it per se, though I know at my hs a B+ in AP was almost worth an A in honors (weighted of course). However, AP credit gets you out of a lot of stuff in college, and trust me, intro classes are no fun at all.

AP is worth more; obviously, do your best for an A, and try to improve over time.

B in AP for sure. It shows that you challenged yourself. And maybe it's no the same in your school but in my school there's a BIG difference between honors and AP. It's easy to get an A in honors but hard to keep a B sometimes in AP.

Plus, you're surrounded with bright classmates and learn alot more. Not just the class material but you also learn time management, organization, effective studying skills along the way. (at least in my experience)

Just try your best!
