I’m pretty sure Cambridge won’t let you switch from Languages to Maths… (well I assume you’re taking STEP II and III as well as doing Further Maths?) Yeah STEP should be fine. The questions, especially STEP III are really interesting. (I’m not just saying that btw. They’re so much more fun than Further Maths. Some are really sneaky but I feel so clever when I work it out lol :P)

Yeah to be fair I might not even go into research in the end. I feel like I’m going to have more fun (meeting new people, interesting courses that aren’t maths, option to participate in lots of clubs) if I decide to go to the US. After all, you only go to college once. Have to make the most of it :)

Yes I doubt I’ll be able to, a switch to Econ might be more realistic.

But yes, I am doing Further Maths (I’ve done 10 modules already and got an A* in the normal A-level at 16) and should be doing STEP I/II and possibly III.

I’ve been doing a few STEP questions so I know how sneaky they are yes :)

@TSRPolymath
Cambridge won’t even consider you if you don’t do STEP III better take it just to be safe. #YOGTCO indeed!

@Looshin
Think my school has already sent in my mid year report. Took 3 maths modules even though my school has a strict policy against taking January exams :)

True, but I was thinking that I’d take STEP I/II now and then do STEP II/III next year on my gap year (I’ll be holding an unconditional so I’ll be able to work on it quite well)

Been a while since I was on here, obviously no decision yet on acceptance (still really hoping to be a Princeton Tiger).

Ended up getting 2 A*s, 1 A, 1 C (A2) and 2 B (AS) - being one of the first 4 people in the country to ever write Further Maths in CIE A Levels… bloody difficult :s

Anyway, best of luck to the rest of you, good luck for your finals in May/June. You all sound like great applicants and maybe some of us will see each other.

@PO and @Lemming
Didn’t even notice you guys on here until now :P

^^ I sat the CIE A-level in Further Maths as well, but I was the only person in my country to do so lol. My name is mentioned in reverence here among A-level students. I got a A on it btw.

@azahra
Congrats!! How difficult was that paper though?!
Yea, our teachers basically had no idea how to really go abut teaching the syllabus (we must have covered about 40% of the syllabus (pure, mechanics and stats) in the last 3 weeks!
Did you do it over 1 or 2 years btw? And where about are you from?

^^ Thanks. The pure paper was OK, but the mech/statistics one was more challenging. I mostly self-studied the course, even though it was on my official school schedule. I did it over a year. I did most of my studying by going through past papers and some stuff I found online ( I still have some good statistics/ mechanics resources if you’re interested). I am from the heart of the middle-east (Egypt).

So basically the same sort of way we did - though we probably got more formal lectures. The pure was much better than the mech/stats. . . I really don’t need any of the resources, but I might still inbox you my email just to read over it all.

I sat the exam in November, got a C : / but I focused a lot on my swimming, physics, chem and maths papers. . . I had a lot of my heavy subjects at the same time : / oh well, no excuses hey
You still did amazingly - and well done again for that!

Haha so true!!!
Princeton was definitely my favourite interview :’)
I’m just waiting until I’ve got decisions to pick a favourite so I don’t get heartbroken (well trying to)

Whoops! A-Level results were a bit off. If I were to get 3 As instead of 1A* and 2As would this maybe trip up my admission if I were to be accepted later this month? What precisely is the cut-off point for missing predicted grades (I’m aware there isn’t one, but what, in your opinion, would simply be an unacceptable drop)?
