A-Level Grades

Are As and As seen as different grades? As in do they actually make a difference to your application? Cos I've heard in the US they are seen as the same thing. Please help? I mean like would 4A's be a huge disadvantage compared to 4 As?

Do you mean A+? It depends on your school’s grading scale. For instance, my high school doesn’t even give A+'s out. Our scale is 100-90 = A. However, if your school offers A+'s, then your scale must be different. Colleges determine how you look in comparison to other applicants based on the scales provided on your transcript. However, A’s in general are seen as really good, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Ok ok thanks. No In the UK they do external exams you see, and the highest grade in that is A. Its the same for all high schools. Though from my past understanding US colleges don’t really recognize A as much as UK unis do. Though I’m not convinced by that haha

Well I think it’s a common thing for US high schools to cap their grades at an A on the usual 4.0 scale, which is what most colleges are used to seeing. That would probably be why it means less to US colleges. Although I do know of some US high schools on a 5.0 scale, and they probably go above an A at those schools.
