DO I win a prize if I guess correct?

Remember that all schools build classes so apparently the schools that you admitted to felt that you had something to offer the class of 08, and the ones that you were not admitted to (if any) felt that while there are too many applicants for so little spaces, they were sorry that they could not offer you admission at this time.

The big question is are you ok with where you are attending. Congratulations on your accomplishments what ever they were.

You should tell us now! I'm really curious!

Haha. That sentence sounds like it came straight out of a college rejection letter.

In at first 5. Waitlisted WUStL and Princeton. Rejected Duke. I'll guess you are attending Harvard.

HOW CAN ANYONE HERE THINK THAT SHE GOT ACCEPTED TO HARVARD???????????????

her stats are mediocre by Harvard standards, and her EC's aren't unique at all!

To the above: I think everyone overstates how hard it actually is to get into Harvard.

No EA then for the OP?

Here goes:
1. Marshall University (WV) - accepted w/ scholarship
2. West Virginia University - accepted w/ scholarship
3. University of Pittsburgh - accepted w/ scholarship
4. University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill - accepted
5. Wake Forest University - accepted
6. Washington University in St. Louis - accepted w/ scholarship
7. Duke University - rejected (Tufts syndrome to H and P)
8. Princeton University - waitlisted
9. Harvard College - waitlisted

You went to Wake Forest.

Ok that's enough let's hear the answer!!!!!!!

My guesses:

Marshall University (WV) - accepted w/ scholarship

West Virginia University - accepted w/ scholarship

University of Pittsburgh - accepted w/ scholarship

University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill - accepted

Wake Forest University - accepted

Washington University in St. Louis - accepted w/ scholarship

Duke University - accepted

Harvard- accepted

Princeton University - accepted

I think you are at harvard. You want us to underestimate you. Well I place my bets on Harvard.

Not a chance. duke is where she went for sure, MAYBE Princeton off the wait list.

The reason I think that she did extremely well in admissions is because it is very rare to have such high scores from a W. Virginia student, and not many students from that state would apply to top colleges either. Since she was a presidential scholar finalist, she also had some of the top SAT scores in her state.

If she were applying from NY or Mass. with such stats, she would not have as strong a chance because of the enormous amounts of students with even stronger stats and ECs who apply to top colleges. In fact, if she were applying from NY or Mass., Duke, Princeton and Harvard would be distant longshots. Odds are greatly in her favor, though, with a W. Virginia residence. Her being also a rare Chinese-American in W. Virginia would work in her favor, too.

I've quite enjoyed reading everyone's posts, lol....I'll post the answer when I get back from work tomorrow (around 2pm eastern time).

And, I don't know about that prize, sybbie; unless someone has suggestions. ;-).

Cheers!,
-L.

you're evil

Marshall University - scholarship

West Virginia University - scholarship

University of Pittsburgh - scholarship

University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill - accepted

Wake Forest University - accepted

Washington University in St. Louis - accepted w/ scholarship

Duke University - waitlisted then accepted

Harvard- rejected

Princeton University - rejected

i don't know, i'm usually good at multiple choice, ill see what happens?

We're makin the kid an auto-admit at H and P, then I wonder where I stand ;)

I'd say accepted at all but the last two; waitlist, reject at Princeton; waitlist, accept at Harvard.

I agree with NSM...being from W VA is a portion of this applicants profile that is helpful to her. Look at the schools....not that many matriculate to them from W VA and not that many are even encouraged to apply. I still say...accepted to all. I think she's at Princeton.
