A Little Late, But Curious

Hello,

I've already submitted my transfer essays, which unfortunately saw only a few pairs of eyes before I turned them in. My problem is that I have a definite tendency for wordy, slightly ornate language. It's the way I naturally write, and often bleeds into my speech (yes, I can be a rather odd duck).

I asked my proofreader if the language was too stilted, but he said it was acceptable. Well, after I submitted it, I rephrased my question and asked him if it flowed well, and he said no, but that was just the way I write, and the essays represented my personality fairly accurately. I hope the tone of my essays was moderately informal, despite loads of $10 words. Would the "plethora of verbiage" be a dealbreaker?

Thanks,
A Frazzled Student

If it happens to be your style of writing that you consistently do, it should be fine. Readers can tell if you legitimately know and frequently use $10 words or just thesaursused for random big looking words.
