<p>This is great for A&M and the students who want to go there, and it’s good for UT in Austin, too, if it helps reduce the crunch at UT. (This year, 81% of the 6719 freshmen at UT in Austin were admitted there automatically, by law, because they were in the top 10% of their Texas high school graduating classes. This left little space at UT for very smart Texas kids who happened to graduate outside the top 10% of their outstanding schools and of course less space yet for international and out of state students.)</p>
