A message to college applicants

Don’t get wrapped up in everyone else’s achievements. First, remember, you are on a website that revolves around college. Generally, only the most ambitious and high achieving students participate in discussions. Don’t compare yourself to another person’s resume. Think about it, the goal is to make yourself sound as high achieving as possible in your essay. While one’s application may say, “Varsity tennis for all four years of high school and captain my senior year,” what it might not state is that there were four people on the tennis team and three were chosen as captain every year. My point, don’t let other applications bring you down. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen threads on here where people have posted stuff such as, “I really want to go to Harvard, but I only have a 34 on my ACT! I’m freaking out! I have no chance at all. Please help!” If you honestly believe that a 34 is going to hurt you when applying to Harvard, then you really aren’t intelligent enough to get in.
