After being off since Tuesday but all those days being pretty busy, I so appreciated today - a day to accomplish many things - but at MY own pace - before heading back to work tomorrow….
I am truly grateful that all of the problems I have are first world problems. My family is mostly happy and healthy. When the little things get me down, I have to try and keep the important things in perspective.
A friend has been posting updates from her S’s former student, a teen who is battling cancer. His posts have requested prayers for his friend, who is also battling cancer & is having an especially difficult time right now. Even though I don’t know either young man, I am grateful for the amazing help provided by St. Jude’s. What a blessing they are for the families.
After talking with a coworker, I am grateful for a drama-free holiday where the biggest conflict was apple vs pumpkin pie.
As I write out her birthday card. I am grateful for my sister. Especially in the last few years I have witnessed her being such a smart, strong, caring, compassionate person who is never afraid to stand up for what is right. I’m so glad we have each other.
Still basking in the afterglow of a long weekend full of family. Grateful to love and be loved by so many.
While I’ve long been thankful for the renewable scholarship that my kids have received, I am thankful that I just submitted the LAST request for funds form this morning! Big sigh of relief and gratitude!
Incredibly thankful again for my DH.
He called my mom back (after I had briefly talked with her and she was wanting me to come over and administer her a Covid test), talked with her about her medical complaints, and was able to calm her down.
Today I am grateful we can buy all the wine we need to get through the holidays and all people involved :).
Very grateful that the A/C contractor came this morning and helped sort out why the bedroom A/Cs weren’t working properly—two of the wires got mixed up and were connected to the wrong machines. Everything is working perfectly now—yay!
Also grateful I bought 5 Aura frames from Costco at $99 apiece and started using one today. It works very well and lets us enjoy viewing a lot of photos. I have to decide who will get the others—my niece who recently got married and is expecting a baby, will get one, another was sent directly to BIL, not sure about the rest.
Tomorrow is the last day of our November Gratitude Month! I have enjoyed reading each one, from small gestures of gratitude to life changing.
Hopefully sometime this month you have had moments where you intentionally recognized gratitude in your day. It’s a good habit to have!
STAY TUNED for December 1st! I’m going to launch ANOTHER monthly thread!!!
I am thankful for eyesight to read. I enjoyed reading this article and am gifting it (to avoid paywall) for others to read (now that I know how to do so as part of my subscription perks).
It’s about the White House Christmas decorations and theme this year focused on “We the People”.
Thank you for sharing! It’s really warm and beautiful!
I am thankful my D20 made is safely back up to school yesterday. I am again grateful to have easy access to Amtrak, which provides a safe and easy way to get practically door to door. I am thankful that she is thriving at school, loving her life and friends in Boston and making the most of these college years.
I am thankful that my D24 seems to be over the worst of her (latest) bout of depression. I am grateful that we have the time, energy and resources to try to help her through them, and hopeful that this is not a life sentence for her.
Finally, every day that my parents are still walking this earth is a gift to me. I am thankful to live close enough that they are a big part of our everyday lives.
Thankful that on the other side of my big downsizing move I have created a cozy condo that makes me happy. Now decorated for Christmas, it feels more like “home” than ever. I loved my previous home, but it was well past time to opt for a smaller footprint. Also thankful that I continue to learn my way around new city, though my adventures haven’t been too far from home so far.
I am grateful that we had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with dinner at my sister’s new home so I didn’t have to host! And, for the first time since 2019, everyone made it. And then, when a relative had to cancel a visit to our home due to covid over the weekend, I instead met up with friend in NYC and had a great time.
Overall, working hard to find gratitude in everyday life, even with some major challenges at home right now.
Thanks for this thread!
I’m grateful we have TIME as retirees, to do more things we want - chores can be put off until “tomorrow,” and do them at times they are convenient. Last weekend we could enjoy a nice day to take a bike ride, because we didn’t have to get chores done for Monday. Today we went to get our Christmas tree. We were the only customers there. We are used to going on weekends when it’s just crazy.
I am thankful that my very good friend finally has a partner who is the closest thing she’s had to “permanent” in her 60+ years. She has wanted to find someone to share her life with, and he just might be the one.
I’m thankful my tax dollars are used to support the Smithsonian Museum, esp for today’s visit to the American Indian Museum (first time for me to this one).
I wish history had been very different. I’m glad it’s not all being lost to time. While I knew some of it, there was a bit I didn’t know, so glad to fill in some gaps.
