Since it’s November 1, and November is National Gratitude Month I thought it might be nice to have a spot here on CC where you can drop a line each day - or whenever it moves you to simply state what you are grateful for on a particular day.
It might be short and sweet: “I’m grateful for sleeping in today”
It might be longer: “I’m grateful for a clear test result”…and then a little explanation if you are so moved.
Sort of a “Say It” thread but dedicated to gratitude. It IS ok to reply or respond to someone’s post though often it just won’t be necessary or you can “respond” by “liking” or posting a emoticon on the post.
In this time of year we are entering when so much of the focus around us is on buying, gifts, having THINGS, let’s put some focus on what we already have - maybe tangible, maybe not.
I’m SO grateful for the mild weather we have been having. Many days in the 60’s and even 70+ which is unusual to get this time of year. Outside time is my haven and the mild weather makes that time longer and more enjoyable!
Today I’m grateful that my senior, and youngest of four kids so my last go round with this, finished all her EA apps. She submitted some over the weekend and the remaining two yesterday, all before tonight’s deadline! Phew.
I watch the news and am grateful H and I won the birth lottery (based on the world), so glad to be able to share extra we have to help our fellow human beings who weren’t so fortunate. I wish I could do more, and I wish mankind wasn’t so evil. (Some, of course, not all with evil.)
Also grateful for our farm and being able to go outside and enjoy peace/quiet/nature on a daily basis.
I’m grateful to have attended a splendid wedding celebration weekend for niece this weekend.
Our son (with fiance) and daughter also flew to Nashville for the grand event. Special bonus was having time with them and niece/nephews not seen for a long time… meeting some of the little ones for the first time. A few weeks ago, after almost 3 years of engagement, our son/fiancée booked a lovely outdoor venue and set a date for their own wedding next June. So it was fun to talk a bit about that too.
Also grateful for retirement, although it is just semi-retirement. Still teaching part-time online and have another remote seasonal part-time gig that I am really liking. Loving my new city as I get to spend so much more time now with D & her family and can get to S’s family for visits much easier now that I live in a city with a major airport. Life is good mostly, but I would have a smidge more of “grateful” if I could stop waking up in the middle of the night to solve problems big & small. The Lindsey Vonn ad for the sleep medication really speaks to me, but I’ll be hog tied before I add another med to my BP pill and statin regimen.
My son and I took a walk today. I spotted the most beautiful rose in a neighbor’s yard. We stopped and smelled it and it smelled as beautiful as it looked. I’m grateful for life!
I am grateful for the opportunity, in my 6th decade on earth, to learn a new field that I find quite exciting and purposeful. Hopefully, it will delay the onset of cognitive decline!
