Anyone see the fight between Detroit and Indiana? All I can say is WOW. Nothing like it ever in professional sports.

No I wouldn't go that far. Maybe not in basketball. What about soccer? People have been killed in soccer riots. Also I am sure there have been other incidents in football and hockey games like this.

I missed the Pistons fight...

I don't know - I think what happened earlier this week in international soccer was pretty bad. The English national team was playing in Spain against the Spanish nationals. Every time a black English player got passed the ball, the Spanish fans all booed and made monkey sounds at him. That's really f'ed up if you ask me.

Needless to say, the Spanish FA is getting fined 10 million euros or something like that, and there'll be some other repercussions.

OMG...that has got to be one of the scariest things...this is definitely a first in american sports tho...i think all soccer brawls i have ever seen were overseas...but still...that just got a little too real for me..and i was watchin from a tv

Ron Is The Man.

Yeah I feel sorry for that fan who ran out on the court at the end. He got a nice blow from O'Neal.

Madness.

From AP:

"It's the ugliest thing I've seen as a coach or player," said Pistons coach Larry Brown

I felt like I was fighting for my life out there," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said.

Basketball fan here, though not a fan of either teams, so I only watched the recap SportsCenter. Unbelievable, especially the throwing of trash, chairs, on to the court, directed at players. Uncalled for. Sidenote;I feel somehow it's more of the fans fault than ron. (Throwing bottles which led to throwing of other objects) A personal opinion. It was pretty crazy

I agree, teal. The fight among the players was pretty much over until that fan threw the cup at artest...i dont blame him. the thing that ****es me off the most is these pussy Detroit fans who want to throw everything they can find at the pacers team, but now are gonna end up suing the pacers players. they want to throw their beer at the team, but do you think they really want to take on a 6'8" pro athlete in a fight?

Well, what took place was obviously awful, and I too agree that it was the fans fault.

That being said, how does the league react when so many players went into the stands? For Ron Artest, this has just not been a good year. What comes of this will be quite interesting. I'm very sad to see this as a lifelong sports fan. This along with the Oakland A's incident has shown that there may need to be more precautions taken with sports, which is extremely sad....or we just dont sell alcohol at sporting events (like the Rose Bowl...whic has at maximum one fight per season and even then it isnt big).

I was at the Browns game three years ago when some fans threw bottles on the field (12-10-01) allegedly. I might have thrown a bottle, (okay I threw two bottles, but empty bottles, I don't waste beer.)

That fight was pretty fun to watch though. I do not blame Artest or Jermaine O'neal at all for that fight. IF some mofo threw some warm ass beer on you, you would be ****ed off also. The NBA shouldnt fine anyone in this case.

People, I'm a Detroiter here.

The fans through PLASTIC CUPS full of beer at Ron Artest. The Pistons establishment does not allow glass bottles to enter the arena. To be ticked over a plastic cup is beyond me ridiculous and naive of him.

I hope Ron Artest gets at least 10 games suspension. The man is a psycho.

Does it being a plastic cup somehow justify the fan's violent outburst? The fact of the matter is that fans need to realize that projectiles aren't going to make any situation ANY better, in fact, they just might make it worse. Yes, the players will suffer the consequences through fines and suspensions. However, the fan takes the bulk of the negative consequences.

Well everyone is to blame in this situation. Ben Wallace. Ron Artest. The Pistons Fans.

Whether you would have done what Artest did isn't the point; the point is: he SHOULDN'T have gone into the stands. It's that simple. The guy who threw the beverage would have been taken care of by security and that incident would have been settled. Artest shouldn't take it upon himself to do the job himself. I agree it would be really tough to restrain going into the stands, in fact I might even do the same thing, but it still doesn't make it the correct thing to do. What's even worse is Artest's teammates going into the stands to carry on the fight; they should have been pulling him out of the stands instead of punching other people.

It's just a big mess.

HAHA...Ron artest, the man who tried to apply for a job at Best Buy because he blew his entire rookie year salary.

He is crazy. He is awesome.

i agree that they should not sell beer/alcohol at games, especially after halftime. Ironic how Wallace hit him, and he did not react. He just laid on the table, until a fan threw beer at him, to which he did react. Before, it was between the players on court. With that it led to player/voluntary 'fan' interaction. As the players left into the lockerroom, some spectators continued pouring/throwing stuff which was disgraceful.

from my perspective or any guys perspective we pry wished we could of been their, boy that would of been fun to say you were their and fought with an NBA player,

The news is out: the NBA suspended INDEFINITELY Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson, Jermaine O'Neal and Ben Wallace.

Ben Wallace never attacked the fans. Maybe a suspension of 5 games at most, but not an INDEFINITE suspension.

Whats up with emphasizing "indefinate"? that just simply means the NBA is still uncertain about how long they are going to be suspended as of now.

They aren't getting fired or suspended forever...

Just to let you know, most of the soccer brawls in Europe do not include the players themselves.
