My school doesn’t have a Science club but we participate in a few local and international tournaments each year. How this works is a team is selected (independently for each competition) by a science teacher.
I am a junior now, and looking back, I have been involved in nearly all of the science competitions that took place in the last three years and got a few awards. Plus, this year, I have been the captain/leader of a few competitions and for some competitions being a leader meant that I would have to organize the team, talk to each member individually before the competition to check if everything is okay and provide them with tools and materials. For other competitions, being a leader meant that I would have to put in weeks of effort into a project without getting any help from others.
In these circumstances, my question is how can I reflect this in my Common App. I am not only talking about listing the minor awards I received but also how can I really reflect that I have been the leader of these projects and put significant amount of time and work in to them?
I guess the real reason why I ask this is that I see “Science Club (President)” in a lot of EC’s here at CC and I am worried that I will be unable to reflect my leaderships in these competitions in a way that it will have same/similar effect when someone says that they were the president of the science club at their school.
