hey guys, ive posted this on the old board; ill give this board a try to...i am just curious about what you think my chances are....i applied ED to teh huntsman program at UPENN

Hey Dostoyevsky, the link doesn't work, just to let you know. But, I think I've read over your profile b4. I'll just say, hell, you really do have a great great chance at Huntsman. They'll be crazy not to accept you. At that, I'll have to re-affirm the fact that I am not an adcom, and that I perhaps know nothing of the process. But, just from the numbers, you are in great shape. :)

actually, I didn't read the **** thing. I'll try again...right now.

haha thanks catch....you have some d.amn nice stats too....i think i have a decent chance (no1 in this world has a good chance) at huntsman, but i am not that confident....the only hole i see in my app is grades....my rank isnt bad (8%), but thats prolly below average for penn....do you think penn could look past that?

Hey Dostoyevsky. 8% ain't bad. Believe me. I know somebody who got in that was barely hangin' onto top 15%. The only difference is that this kid went to like one of the top private schools and that school ranked by percentiles, so, I guess Penn never figured out that he was on the BOTTOM..VERY BOTTOM! Eh.

But, yea, nobody is ever a lock for Huntsman, but, hey, I just think you have a better chance than most.

Cheers,
Waiting for Dec. 10...tick tick tick...its drivin' me nuts.

Well, from what I've read, Huntsman ppl are actually that "SAT-driven" in terms of the cutoff...so, I have already given up hope :) Eh. But, you are safely over the barrier, so, at least you can find comfort in knowing that one of the reasons Huntsman rejects so many people and has such a low admit rate is because a lot of kids don't know about the SAT cutoff Huntsman has. I am actually a little bit disappointed in the program upon learning this news...but when I think back to one of the two ppl I know who got in...I am not at all surprised that Huntsman is a numbers driven program (no offense, it's an AWESOME program!). I couldn't believe that Huntsman admitted a guy who seriously never made the effort to pick up the newspapers, didn't give a damn about foreign policy, and just overall a typical overachieving academic. But he got in. The other kid was like you, he was hell awesome and seriously had a passion for diplomacy and economics.

Why am I blabbing? I don't know. I am just nervous.

More ppl should respond to this thread, btw. :)

catch....after talking to inge, i left with the impression that the personal stuff mattered a lot for the huntsman program....maybe, she just said that to me, because she already knew my SAT score (from this card i had to fill out)....out of all the 2008 kids (whom i met on my overnight stay), there was only one person that wasnt uhh a "good" person to be around....seriously, all the kids there are very interesting/interested, so i think that tells you something...catch, dont worry too much about scores thought; i think the cutoff is used to just make sure every1 has the talent level to keep up with the coursework....its basically does not let them admit "average" people (although i know 1450 is not by any means average)....seriously, i doubt they compare a 1520 with a 1580, as their is no diff statistically (80 point margin of error on the SATs)....ny1 else wanna post?

Naw...No! haha. The kid was like the top 15%...barely...by like one other kid...so, like, after he got accepted, he droped to the top 20-25% percentile...
