A Single C+ on My Transcript - Will It Affect My Chances of Going to College? (I am a Sophomore)

@anxiouspupil Pre-Calc H was probably my least favorite class of high school, but that was mostly because I hated the teacher and I just hate math in general. I found it to be quite difficult, but then again, I personally should have probably tried harder. I actually found AP Calc AB to be easier the next year, so it depends on who you are. A lot of Pre-Calc is memorization of concepts and formulas, so I would just make sure to study pretty hard! Good luck.

First of all, CHILL OUT.

Second of all, to answer your question, YES YOU CAN GO TO COLLEGE WITH SINGLE C+. There are lots and lots of people who don’t take AP course AND have worse grades. They still go to colleges(now whether they succeed or not is a different question).

Just do your best with other classes; unless your teacher does something about it you have to move on.

@paul2752 - LOL. Sorry for acting paranoid. I’m just not used to receiving grades like that! Thank you for the comment, though

@shadyconcepts - I’ll make sure to do my best! I also heard from upperclassmen that AP Calculus AB is easier than Pre-Calculus, and I hope they and you are right! Thanks!

@anxiouspupil I didn’t meant to come out too strong, but for now just work on the other stuff. I understand that feeling becasue I got C- in Cell Biology-college student-and it was super frustrating

UPDATE: I’M NOT GETTING A C+ ON MY TRANSCRIPT! My AP Chemistry teacher gave us one more shot at improving our grade by having us take an Organic Chemistry test. I took it and I passed! My passing grade contributed to my final average in the class, yay!

Hello! I’m a senior about the attend college in the fall. I only got one C+ my freshmen year in Latin and it has not affected my college application or admissions. Actually colleges like to see students who have changed and kept their grades up, plus one C is alright. I ended up getting all A’s for all my sophomore, junior, and senior years and still didn’t worry about my one C+. I got into all the colleges I applied to and didn’t get into trouble with the C! Don’t worry, just made sure to keep your grades up and you should be just fine.

I got a C+ in Algebra II Honors.
While it may have affected me somewhat in college admissions, I still got into places like Columbia, Northwestern, and Emory and full rides from Howard.

You’ll be fine.
