Reading threads from previous years, I've seen people say that they've sent their name to the AB Duke program to make sure that their application is considered. How do you do this?

And for Duke's merit scholarhips, besides Robertson--you don't apply, right? You're automatically considered?
This kinda worries me because what if they never see your application?

My stats are 2400 superscore, ranked 1/300, science research internship, regional awards, (no major awards)--so what are my chances of a merit scholarship to Duke? My academics are amazing, but I feel like as a Korean American, my app is a bit stereotypically asian (science lol) and I don't have any major awards. Will I still have a shot at a full ride per say?

No applications, all those who are accepted are in contention (although it is my understanding that some threshold quantitative qualifications my informally exist??).

I’m not a huge fan of this particular excerpt:

But we can tell you this: we are looking for people rather than perfectionists and potential rather than performance. We honor high school records and recommendations; we honor even more a high school record that reveals little self-satisfaction, that is hungry instead of overfull, that is imaginative instead of ingrained to please.

regarding your chances or even mine, for that matter. It just seems to dehumanize high scorers as robots like so many other schools are apt to do (MIT…). My stats are basically the same as yours. Hopefully we will know in either March or April if we qualified.

Since they emphasize academic achievement and inquisitiveness (oh boy, another vague adjective that is of no help) I’d say you probably do have a shot. BTW, you don’t need to apply for the Robertson per se, it’s just kind of encouraged.

When is the merit Scholarship weekend for 2014? Have the finalist been notified for AB, BN, Trinity, and University scholar merit scholarships?

According to one source, some or all scholarship finalists will receive an email this Friday, March 7th, letting them know of their acceptance to Duke/scholarship finalist status.

No. Based on past year threads:
March 4, 2008
March 7, 2009
March 4, 2011
March 2, 2012
March 6, 2013
notifications are complete by end of the first week of March

@yetanotherid
Congrats!! If anyone received any word about the BN or others please do post so that I can finally get some closure that I didn’t get a finalist notification!

just fyi for future applicants, here are the dates for AB Duke Finalist notifications:
March 4, 2008
March 7, 2009
March 5, 2010
March 4, 2011
March 2, 2012
March 6, 2013
March 7, 2014
Couldn’t edit my earlier post to add the date for 2010.

Thanks yetanotherid for the valuable information above and congratulations. Were you able to tell from privious post if other scholarship notification also went out on the same day.

@1415mom - In the 2010 thread I saw USP finalists were notified the same day as AB Duke finalists. I don’t know if that is a coincidence or they are notified the same day every year. Good luck to your kid.

I just realized I have no idea what happens during the AB Duke Finalist weekend. Past threads did not help with past finalists asking for the same info but no responses. Can anyone please shed some light on what happens ? and what is expected ? TIA

@1415mom - I looked at the website url they sent us for the finalist weekend and it has the schedule for AB Duke, BN Duke, Reginaldo Howard, University Scholars scholarship finalists. They all start on April 9th. I think all of them were notified today.

@yetanotherid, congratulations. You have many great opportunities ahead.
Is the AB Duke Finalists weekend part of selection process for the scholarship?
