Yes, no matter what. I would actually like to see a birth control shot given to all people until they reach a certain age and have proven that they can financially and correctly take care of a child. Also they would have to take some sort of test to make sure they are mentally up for it. This would save so much money and we would have a stronger and safer country.

How about if you know the child is going to have problems?
me: yes

I believe people should be able to have abortions cause it's there right. Plus, you dont know what type of life the baby's going to have. If it's going to grow up in a ghetto without a dad, maybe it wouldbe better

"I would actually like to see a birth control shot given to all people until they reach a certain age and have proven that they can financially and correctly take care of a child."

Do you know much money we'd save in taxes and how much safer our country would be if that was actually required. screwed up people start with screwed up parents.

1st trimester abortions i have no qualms with. after that, i have a serious moral problem with.

Ace... I think all the "saved" tax money would be spent on the shots, the tests, the people to administer the shots, the people to make sure you get the shots.. etc.

But if they were free, that'd be a good idea!

i actually think it would be a great idea to have to go through an admission process to legally have a child. just to make sure people who want to have children aren't totally screwed up.

then again that would never happen because we'd have the retards at the aclu on our asses.

but yeah i def agree w/you on that. we would have less unwed mothers, teenage pregnancies, thus reducing welfare, our money could be better spent and more children's lives would be saved. plus, there owuldnt be many illegal abortions then b/c people would want to have kids to go through an admissions process to legally have children.
admissions process? maybe this is too much CC.. good idea tho

That is the worst idea I've ever heard, ace. For starters, it would be incredibly hard to enforce this. Then, you would have to create another government agency and hire thousands of employees. There is very little objectivity in a process run by humans, so naturally there would be problems and appeals and such.

This is after you get over the fact that what you're saying is that our government should invade on our basic human rights. The government has absolutely no right to tell consenting adults what they can and cannot do, provided it does no harm to another person. I can't believe someone even suggested this. Please tell me it was a joke.

hey i was just saying i agreed with you. never claimed the idea as my own.

two completely incompetent parents shouldn't be parents. it really is harming society. where do you think abuse victims, drug addicts, and criminals come from. the a-hole dad and the crazy mom or your average-run of the mill parents? what you need to realize is that this is the root of a lot of societies problems: people who shouldn't be having children popping out kids they can't adequately take care of.

i see the situation as trying to get a sex change. law requires a little therapy to people who want them to make sure that's what they really want. like that, having a child should be a major, major decision in life, and should require some level of pre-approval. you're going to raise a person who looks up to you and whose adolescent years you will be almost completely responsible for. if two people can't raise a child adequately (i.e. they abuse, abandon, or fail to set boundaries for them) that's a whole life that's gonna be screwed up, then that screwed up kid is going to pop out even more kids and it's all just a giant chain of people we have to spend our energy and tax dollars on.
