Since i'm a foreign high school graduate, I just do not fully understand about admission process. I want you ppl to help me out of some inquiries.

I reckon all universities have quiet different admission criteria. For instance, private unis put stress on EC's while most state unis don't.
Is that true?
Do EC's largely affect the decision?

And I am really curious about their verifying method. I don't think they could possibly check each students' activities. Do they get suspicious sometimes?
The reason i want to know is that especially for int'l sudents, there is no way to verify their resume, but evidence like awards, official documents.
What if i lost them already, or there was no evidence in the first place?
And how do they evaluate all varities of acticities?
No one could answer my questions...

Frankly I was tempted, because if I really want to i thought I could overstate about my activities. (I didn't, I swear!)

I think my questions sound quite ridiculous...
But please anyone help me to work out.
Thanks in advance!

Well I dont know if you could generalize that private universities stress EC
s whereas state schools dont. it is, usually important everyewhere I think, or atleast at the most competitive colleges. If you are aiming for the competitive schools, yes, they are a big factor. State schools look at your EC
s too, although some schools are more number based than others. (or that
s what i
ve heard) it could make a difference of rejection or acceptance. but again, this varys from school to school. it` s just ONE factor, so no one can say how much it affects decision.s

colleges dont normally check each person
s EC
s. but if it looks suspicious, then yes, they would check. I think admisions people can sense if someone is lying or not. the whole application will probably show. if you are worrie,d have a teacher or GC mention it in the recommendation-this is the best way to prove your EC
s. some schools randomly call people to check their EC
s. in anyway, the admissions people can sense or have a way to check (by calling, etc) if someone is lying or not, and if they find out, that person is automatically rejected.you could overstate your actvities i think, as long as it is not lying. im not recommending it, but some ppl do do it.
