I have no idea why we haven’t received our packages yet. And I agree, this is more than ridiculous. They requested extra forms to be sent back before decisions arrived, and we had them ready and faxed by 3/22, and the my.fordham site says they’ve been under review since 3/23. That was nearly a month ago. I’m going to call as soon as I get out from school… How can we be this far in the process and not even know our aid?

Okay, so I called today. Apparently they haven’t even reviewed all of my info yet. They said to give it another day or two for them to make the decision. I’m annoyed at this point. If we don’t hear something by tomorrow, my mom and I are going to call and tell them that if they aren’t offering at least -insert amount here-, they might as well start over, because we’re going to appeal. We don’t have time to wait until we receive a letter and then send for an appeal. What do you guys think about this approach? It’s not as if we turned things in late; there was one form they requested, and we had that in nearly a month ago. So it’s not unreasonable to expect they’d have this ready…

collegebound91- That approach is great. Get to speak to a counselor and review whatever they are putting together. I sent in my appeal and spoke to a counselor and I have a good feeling. I bascially told them what I needed and gave them the other “grant or free” money my D was offered. I hope to hear a reply quickly or I’ll be back on the phone. If you are attending the event, go to financial aid at 11 on Saturday if you haven’t gotten things straightened out by then. We’ll be there!

Gahhh.
My mom called today, and it turns out whoever she spoke with yesterday didnt exactly give her the correct info.

They told my mom it was reviewed, sealed and sent again yesterday. Turns out it is NOT even done with review, nor is it sent, and it wont be for a few days. This is going to be down to the wire. I don’t understand why they just wouldn’t tell us yesterday it wasnt sent and done with, and that they still had a while to go. GRRRRR! Fordham is my number one, its just stressful. It feels like the admissions process all over again.

I’m kinda in the same boat…

guys i got mine today… they used UPS Extremely Urgent… the date of shipment is 4/15/09…hope that helps…pretty sure yours are on their way

Oag_iy, how was the package?

And still nothing for me today…

the package is not bad at all…what a surprise …actually at least for me the number is even higher than the Feburary estimate they sent me… so cheer up guys

Wow, mine is not really all that great

Grants/Scholarships- About $21,000
Loans- About $5,500
EFC- $0.00

…and I got a Dean’s scholarship, I definitely thought that they would be giving more merit aid, I can’t afford this.

oh yeah… that’s really a terrible package simpson98…
by the way…does anyone know what’s the requirment for Dean’s scholarship? :(

There’s no requirement, but I think you have to be in the top 8-10% of the applicant pool.

Package came today. Over 30k unmet. We’re going to need at least 10-15k more if I want to attend.

Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan $2000
Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan $3500
Fordham Loyola Scholarship $8000
Fordham Grant in Aid $8300
Federal Pell Grant Estimate $976

is this good? i have no idea what it means!

alanavm: “Good” is something different to everyone. What’s your EFC? We’re pretty much on the same page; you have $32,224 unmet.
(Tuition is apparently about 55,000 this year)

this will sound ridiculous, i’m sure…but where exactly do i find out what my efc is?

how exactly can you get the Fordham Grant in Aid? What are the requirements?

By the way: EFC is your Expected Family Contribution. It is based on the processing results of your FAFSA.

collegebound91, u r wrong, tuition is not 55k a year, its around 36k a year. but after factoring in dorm and books, its probably gonna cost 50k a year, not 55k though.
My EFC is 0 and i got 21k in Grant-in aid, 6k Metro Grant and 5k in TAP grants.

Who is eligible to get it?

Okay so I looked it up and my EFC is 4450. How does this factor into my fiancial aid award?

Concord, I didn’t mean to type that tuition is going to be 55k. You were right.

However, and maybe this depends on which campus you’re going to, tuition, room & board, & other charges for LC students added up to about 55k in the email/online stats they sent with the FA award. If you cut back on a few of the charges, it’ll be like 51-52k. Still really expensive.

And alanvm: Your EFC is how much your family can afford to pay, basically. So if your unmet need is a lot more than your EFC, you can’t afford the school. But you can appeal/look for outside scholarships, and take out loans.
