Hello, I read some official data from UC and realized that there is a 12% decline for 2022/2026 transfer-applications. Does this mean, from UCLA overall consideration, they may give more spots to freshman, for example, off more from WLs, given that more residential dorms are available…From business of view, UCLA does have incentive to fill more freshman students(good enough ones from WL).
I don’t think so. Transfer applications would be 2022/2024 – people transferring over in their Junior year. Or, maybe 2022/2025.
I’d wager their freshman class size is a combination of “housing” and “class space” and “number of seniors a department can properly handle in a given year”.
And, possibly, it might just mean that people in the transfer pool are finding they have better odds of acceptance. Not that there will be fewer transfers.
Adding a decline in transfer apps doesn’t mean a decline in number of accepted transfers…meaning UCLA will likely accept and ultimately enroll the same number of transfers as always.
