Absence of summer programs?

Hello CC Community.
I might have a slight issue regarding college admissions - I have never done any summer programs or internships.
In general, how greatly will this hurt me?
I know other factors such as my test scores, other ECs, etc also play a part in admissions, but will the absence of summer programs/internships detriment my chances greatly or to some extent?

Any of you students never participated in a summer program but still accepted to a big school?

Thanks a lot for any input!
Any help is appreciated.

Note: I am a rising senior so my chances for any type of summer program/internship for this summer is shot..
Note: Here are my stats from another post: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1665715-chances-for-me-big-schools-mediocre-test-scores-high-gpa-many-ecs-happy-to-chance-back.html#latest">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1665715-chances-for-me-big-schools-mediocre-test-scores-high-gpa-many-ecs-happy-to-chance-back.html#latest</a></p>

Bump… :frowning:

Just looked at your stats, you seem to be a very strong student…

What did you do in the summer? A summer of community service or working could be just as valuable…it really depends on what you gained out of it.

@h0pefulgirl‌, wow. Thank you for the reply! I almost forgot about this post, but your response was fantastic.

This summer, I did volunteer at another hospital for roughly 40 hours and then picked up a shadowing/volunteer student athletic trainer position at my high school. In addition, I added some more hours to my volunteer position at another hospital (added to my past total of ~550). I’ve started going to a low income church ministry to volunteer in August too! Also, I got a job in August, but that might be too late to be considered “summer.”

Thanks for your input. :)
