Academic dismissal

This is my first dismissal. My first 2 semesters were F’s are withdraws. I was working too much. Next semester achieved 2.5 gpa but still wasn’t enough to get brought above 2.0. Was dismissed and here’s my appeal.
To Enrollment Services, Academic Standards Committee, and whomever this may concern:

This letter is to appeal my academic dismissal from Mt. San Jacinto College. I was not surprised by the email I received about my dismissal, but rather distressed. It would be an honor to continue my education here at MSJC, so I would like to ask for reinstatement for the Fall 2017 semester.
I admit my cumulative GPA is not up to the school par, but it is gradually improving as each semester passes. I will not make poor excuses to my previous failures in the past, but I would like to explain the circumstances. My family is not incredibly wealthy, so to save money on different insurances I am required to take a minimum of 4 classes per semester. Most students take 4 or more classes so I believed I could maintain the workload from school, as well as the 40 hours from work each week. My first year at MSJC I had failed and been withdrawn from many classes, I made the mistakes of: not taking a leave of absence, not working less, and not taking initiative to take advantage of the free tutoring on campus. My schedule was crammed with work hours and school hours, and I was unable to manage my time appropriately. After the first year my GPA was shot and I was required to present astonishing grades, to prevent dismissal. I understand my time management and my work life need to comply in order to perform to school standard. This past semester Spring 2017, I utilized the Learning Resource Center, and have cut my hours from work in half. Although I was not able to get the grades to bring my GPA above 2.0, I was able to achieve a 2.5 GPA. Spring 2017 was my best performing semester, drastically improving my GPA that was once below 1.0. I understand now that I have the tools to become successful, I have learned to utilize them and learned to take initiative. On Monday, June 19th, I had spoken with a counselor about my future progress and a new and improved education plan. My plan prior to the meeting was a transfer plan with a psychology degree to Arizona State University. The new plan is to graduate with my degree from MSJC with a 2.5 or higher GPA, the classes I will be enrolled in will be retaken courses to improve my GPA. I had also spoken with my manager from work, she has agreed to maintain my low weekly hours until I am graduated. My time management will improve even more than last semester, having fewer hours at work allows me to get the help I need offered by the school itself.
I love MSJC and it would mean the world to me if I graduated with a degree from the school. If I am reinstated I will focus even more on my school work, utilize my free tools, and meet with an advisor or counselor bi-weekly, to check my progress. Please understand that the first year I had at MSJC, and low GPA that resulted in my dismissal, does not mark that I am a bad student. I am bright and ready to prosper. I hope I can continue my education on to the following semester. A second chance is all I need to show I can succeed. Thank you for considering this appeal.
Sincerely,
____

In addition to my appeal a professor wrote a letter to reconsider my dismissal for outstanding academic performance. What are my chances?

this really isn’t something the people on this forum can help with. Work with the school directly. Generally CCs are pretty open to re-enrollment. My guess is, that will let you back in based on your letter. Most people would struggle working 40 hours and taking 4 college classes. I would suggest you find a happy medium. It is also possible that the major you have chosen isn’t appropriate.

Good luck.

Here’s the issue I have with your letter:"so to save money on different insurances I am required to take a minimum of 4 classes per semester. "

I’m not sure exactly what that means when you speak of insurances. And most kids I know take 15 or more credits, so 5 classes.

But it that’s what caused you a problem, won’t it continue to be a problem? Why should they reinstate you when the issue persists?
