Academic Planning Worksheet

I'm planning to apply University of Washington, Seattle and it is optional for international transfer student to submit the Academic Planning Worksheet. Would it be an advantage for admission if I submit it?

These worksheets are typically more for the benefit of the student than for the benefit of the admission committee. They want you to know how close you are to graduation before you make a commitment to attend.

Once you look at the worksheet itself, it will become apparent why it is optional for international transfer students. I just looked at the academic planning worksheet for a math major. It has two sections: the major specific section and the general education section. Most international transfer students would have to leave the entire gen ed section blank because they studied only a single subject in college. The major specific section only asks about very basic math classes (Calc 1-3 and a single elective), most of which I would have taken in high school - no college credit for those either. If I had to submit the form, I could have filled in exactly two classes. That doesn’t really give the admissions committee any more information than not submitting the form at all.

I guess I would recommend you take a look at the worksheet and try to complete it. If it contains a significant amount of information, submit it. But don’t submit an almost blank form.
