According to my friends, they have a nice time partying and travelling when studying abroad in Europe. So that makes me wonder, is studying abroad in Europe a good decision regarding academic study?

For example, is this an effective way to acquire a wide academic horizon?

On the other hand, is academic experience of studying in Europe quite different from the US? And is this beneficial academically?

By the way, since I plan to take some courses of humanities, I wish to know that, is intellectual atmosphere in European universities quite different from American universities?

I will be very appreciated for each reply. And I’ll be very grateful if anyone could give some examples about this. Thank you!

First, studying in Europe is tottally different. Here you have way more theory and almost no labs, own work, research. … And history is taugt here tottaly, tottally different. There are almost no connections with Economy and Geography here, more political history, more fact and figures, more names…I’m preparing for SAT II World History and taking history HL at my high school (we use mainly college books, so I’m familiar both with college and high school programme)- I’m able to tell that in US high school you learn much, much less facts…like, the amount of informations is 30%-40% we have(with this detail that here aboute 70% is Europe History), but we do not mach them with our times, write essays, etc. It’s totally different style of learning history than you know, you must be aware.

Studying here at one of the best universities - go ahead, but if yoor choice would be just an ordinary, common uni, it’s much better to attend uni in US - you’d have at least nice campus, good labs, reasearchs etc…
BTW, haven’t you thought about study abroad programme? Like, attend US uni, but go to Europe for a year or two…then you will feel the atmosphere of European college and university, which is really amazing, but also gain in US what you can’t gain in Europe…
