Academic Rigour

Hi,

was curious to know how the academic rigour is at MHC. Is it killing or manageable?

Current student here- It is tougher than high school, but not so tough that you fail everything. If you were a straight tA student in HS (or close to it), be prepared to get your first B’s and C’s.

From what my daughter tells me, typically the classes are demanding. You will write allot. Test normally involve short answers and essays or problems to solve, not much multiple choice. Some Profs are harder than others. Some departments have more support than others. She reaches out to the professors and establishes study groups in every class. Once. she need a peer a tutor, to master the material. Se knew the class would be hard going in and arranged the tutor in advance. Basically, to do well you need to be organized and not let yourself get behind. Reach out to the teachers the second you feel lost. There a lot of help on campus, like the saw center which will read over and help you write papers form organizing your thoughts to proof reading. The class deans and advisors are there to help you. With that in mind, the classes are demand but MHC offers support to make it totally manageable.
