Is there a list of schools where BFA acting students can get academic merit scholarships from the university?
A few I was wondering about:
Rutgers Mason Gross
Boston University
DePaul
University of Minnesota
SUNY Purchase
Thanks!

My friend got a full ride to SUNY Purchase on an academic scholarship. Another friend of mine got a partial academic scholarship to Boston University. I don’t know about the rest.
Most schools offer merit aid of some sort to BFA students with high stats. I think DePaul may not allow you to stack academic and talent awards - but double check.
My D got the most money for academics but if schools allowed us to stack talent money on top, that made it even better. Talent awards were smaller and some schools don’t offer them.
Schools that give money that i known of:
SMU (southern Methodist)
Webster
U arts
Pace
U of Minnesota (they have some scholarships if you have high stats and high class rank) but you can also apply for specific “college
Of liberal arts” scholarships via the website.
Marymount Manhattan
New school
Evansville
Illinois Wesleyan
Milikin
Mulenberg
Wagner
Fordham
Really many programs give
Academic scholarships. You can find this easily of most college Websites under freshman scholarships.
Even those that don’t give a lot to the masses generally have awards for the very top student(s).
Good luck.
UMBC in Baltimore, MD has a BFA Acting major and full-tuition academic scholarships available.
Otterbein University offers both merit and talent that are stackable.
Isaroo I believe all the schools you mention potentially offer merit money for academics as well as for talent.
I know off the top of my head that Coastal Carolina gives academic merit. But I’m sure there are many. I think the best way to find out this information though is to go to the web page of the college you are interested in for a BFA and then search for their merit scholarships.
Thanks so much everybody! A lot of the time, it’s kind of unclear on the websites. Another question I had– Is it possible to be in the honors programs at any of these schools and still get a BFA?
Yes. Many kids who get a BFA are also in honors programs.
@lsaroo yes at UMBC my daughter did both (and had room for a second major thanks to the AP credits she entered with) and my son is currently a BFA in the honors program at Fredonia. But that’s a great question to ask specific schools when you tour.
Lots of state schools offer some kind of published academic awards. Many privates do to. For some schools its merit or talent, not both. Read twice! Ask specific questions.
DePaul has an honors program, so if you’re a BFA acting, you can do it.
My daughter received significant merit aid (as in >$20,000 per year) from Marymount Manhattan, Pace, and Wagner. I don’t know about the schools she didn’t get into (e.g. Emerson), but she also got into NYU Tisch, and NYU does not give any sort of merit aid.
My D has merit aide from NYU. It was a small award freshman year, and has increased every year since (she is currently a junior)
All schools have a Net Price Calculator on their websites where you can plug in your financial info and your academic stats (GPA and SAT/ACT scores) and get a general idea of what scholarships you qualify for at that wchool.
