I understand that in late January/early February, between 800 and 1000 applicants are admitted to USC and invited to interview for Presidential/Trustee scholarships. However, I don’t understand how this would work for music applicants. My audition is in late January and Thornton doesn’t release decisions until late March.
USC can’t admit me without hearing my audition so I’m confused on how music students can receive presidential/trustee scholarships. It says on the Thornton website that music applicants are eligible so I know it happens somehow.
Can someone point me in the right direction? I really don’t know what to expect in February.
Thornton applicants don’t get interviews in February. Academic scholarships from USC come out a couple of days after the admission letters are sent out in March. The scholarships are posted on the USC portal. Multiple scholarships might be posted to the portal on different days.
Good luck with your audition.
@ChenXiaoYun thanks, do you know if we will get a letter saying whether or not we are still in the running for scholarships?
I don’t remember if there was official notification regarding scholarships. You can call Thornton admission office. They are all very nice and willing to help.
The most important thing is to have a great audition. If the school really wants you then there is a good chance that they will find funds for you, be it academic or music scholarship.
