academic subjects?

<p>Colleges require recommendations from teachers of academic sujects, and I am not sure if "management and marketing" and "financial management" are considered as academic subjects.
Some people tell me that they are. But I know that in my school (Canada), they are not considered as academic subjects because they are options. </p>

<p>I think academic refers to courses that are required by the college (SS/history, english, 2nd language, math, lab science).</p>
