Ok so I'm an African American High School student who's a Junior in High School and I want to apply an accelerated Medical Program at George Washington University, Boston University, Howard University and possibly Rensselaer Polytechnic. So far this is what I've got:
GPA: Weighted 5.0/ Unweighted 4.0
Rank: (I'm one of the top 3, it's iffy because i'm not a senior yet, but i'm either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd)
SAT Biology Subject Test : 750
PSAT: 201
Mock Trial: 3 years
Interact Club: 3 years
Helping Hands: 2 years
National Honor Society: 3 years
Volunteer at local Hospital
Reading for the visually impaired
I was head of a community newsletter for a little but it may not be too important
Wrestling: 1 year
AP Classes I've taken:
AP European History: 4
AP Computer Science: didn't take AP test
AP Classes i'm taking:
AP Calculus AB
AP US History
AP Human Geography
AP Language and Composition
AP Art History
AP Physics 1

P.S. Will the fact that i'm African American help me out with my chances of getting in at all?

Have you taken the SAT or ACT? Have you looked at those specific school’s requirements to apply? Accelerated medical programs are extremely competitive and are some of the hardest programs to get into in the nation. You can look at my stats on my chance me page. With those stats, I sadly still didn’t get into NEOMED’s. My ACT score was most likely my downfall. Get as many EC leadership roles and medical-related EC’s as you can. Follow the requirements for each program for scores and GPA. Good luck.

Being African American would normally help at a private undergraduate program but it is a more significant boost when your family income is lower or you’ve come from a difficult background. Not clear whether this is also true for joint MD/BS programs. Very few students get admitted to these programs nationwide. I would have expected AP chem and AP bio in your senior year. Also, your ECs should have much more of a medical slant. Your obviously very smart and talented but can you wield a scalpel or draw blood? In rereading your profile, these are just your junior year classes do you have another full year for chem and bio. PSAT score would indicate about 2000 SAT. You need to take SAT or timed practice SAT to see where you fall out. Probably not a bad idea to contact a department head in the joint program at one of these colleges and ask them, point blank, what they are looking for

Yeah I plan on taking AP Bio next year as a senior and Chem over the summer because my school hasn’t been offering iit lately for some reason.
