Acceptance Rate Projected to Fall to 8% Overall

With over half the class filled at an ED acceptance rate of 26%, RD rate will then be LOW single digits? Wow…

Some more analysis of these numbers:

54% of 1925 means 1040 students, so they are expecting around 97% yield from ED (others backing out because of inadequate financial aid or other special situations).

8% acceptance rate means 3233 total acceptances, or 2154 acceptances from nearly 36000 RD applications. This means around a 6% acceptance rate in RD. 2154 acceptances for the remaining 885 slots means 41% yield for RD. Historically they have been lower than this, so my feeling is that they might accept a bit more, for overall acceptance rate around 8.5% and RD rate of 6.5%

By the way, this 6 or 6.5% assumes there are no deferrals from ED … they do have some (possibly quite a few), so it will be lower than than.

Looking at numbers from last year, seems like they accepted 3465 students total. If they do the same thing, it means
nearly 2385 acceptances from RD (+ deferred pool). Assuming deferred pool is small, it means 6.5% acceptance rate for ED and 8.5% overall.

@osuprof, since they took more students from ED, the total # of accepted students (between ED and RD) will go down from last year since they have about a 100 more accepted students at a 97% yield relative to last year.
