I didn't get a picture of the admission committee, I did however, get a note on the back of a postcard from my interviewer. It says:

I was so impressed with you in our interview and am thrilled at the prospect of having you here in the Andover community. Can't wait to learn even more about you...

Funny thing is that Andover was by far my worst interview. I had no questions to ask when we finished talking! I did formulate a couple at the last seconds. Go big blue!

You know what is also cool. My friend who is on my team, in every one of my classes, who sits next to me, also got accepted to Exeter. I was calling him the Exonian all day. He reeeaaally wanted in at Andover, but he was waitlisted. Our teachers must have written some good rec's because for the last past 3 years only 2 kids have been accepted to Exeter from my school. I don't think ayone has been accepted at Andover in like 5 years.

@benevolent4them, congrats on getting into PA! For future reference, we call Exeter students "Exies" (the Exonian usually refers to their newspaper) for short. Hope to you see you next year.

Btw, don't look at the post time for this post. It reveals a bit too much about Upper year..

my groton letter is sort of personal..
okay, so... i'm really nervous about going because it's going to take a lot of money.
i'm a full-pay hopeful, and you guys might all be like, "well, you can afford it!!"
but the economy's changed a lot...
i'm going to have to work really hard to make up for all the money i'm using!!
the tuition to groton, milton, or exeter are similar to the tuition cost of most colleges...

Haven't gotten SPS packet yet but boy do I feel like I just dodged a bullet. Rejected at Andover (expected), Waitlisted to Deerfield (expected acceptance..). I already knew I was waitlisted at Exeter.

Dear Mpicz,

After careful deliberation, I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to Phillips Academy. It is unfortunate that the Admission Committee was not able to return a favorable decision on your application.

I wish to thank you for your interest in Andover and recognize the time and effort you put into the admission process. You may be certain your application was considered with great care. With so many applicants and so few openings, the Admission Committee was forces to turn away many fine and talented young people.

Once again, I am sorry to bring you this news. On behalf of the Admission Committee, I wish you the best and know that our loss will be the gain of another secondary school.

Yours sincerely,

Jane F. Fried
Dean of Admission

Dear Mpicz,

The Admission Committee has completed a careful review and discussion of your application to Deerfield. I am sorry that we are unable to offer you admission at this ime. However, because we do feel that you have considerable potential to contribute to, and benefit from, Deerfield, we are offering you a place on our Wait List. I am sorry this letter does not bring better news, but it has been an exceptional year for Deerfield admissions, and we simply do not have any space available at the moment.

I don't feel like typing the rest...its long but ya.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call me. We appreciate your interest in Deerfield.

Sincerely,
Patricia L. Gimbel
Dean of Admission and Financial Aid

HEY. SO my final results are in :]
Waitliosted: Exeter
Accepted: Loomis and CSW for Junior year 2009. Just felt like sharing the good news, lol :]

Haha Cheezifreako! I know that there will be LOTS of work regardless of where I go.

I'm really confused right now, and consequently I'm easily influenced and persuaded. Groton sent me this giant cylinder and inside there was a giant Groton poster and a handwritten note from the director of admissions! My acceptance letter waws awesome too! My sister wants me to attend Hotchkiss! SHe hasn't even been on campus, but she thinks it is AMAZING! Hotchkiss is pretty incredible. And Middlesex! I've wanted to go there since I was about eight! I got a letter the the headmaster today. I was also contacted by the head of the history department. My dad is like "You have to go to Andover! THey are the best school in the country. There was only a 16% acceptance rate, you obviously have to go!" And Exeter is so tempting too.

I hate having to make this decision. I always hoped that I would get in everywhere, but I didn't know how stressful it is to decide! AAAAAHHHHH

Im sure Groton and Hotchkiss admissions rate were under 20 this year too, so your dad doesn't have much of an argument lol. Your not seriosuly going to go to ALL the revisit days are you? lol. That would be insane.

Yah, my dad is caught up in the prestige factor. I promised myself that I wouldn't be influenced by prestige, but clearly I am.

In my Hotchkiss acceptance packet it says...

Inquiriies: 5753
Applications: 1549
Number Admitted: 316 (20%)

And yah, I would be very surprised if Exeter and Andover arent <20%, judging by the fact that Groton in the past has had acceptance rates of around 18%.

It also goes on to say that 27% of Admitted Students were awarded financial aid. Isn't that a bit low! About 75% of students applied for aid!

i believe 32% of andover students are on FA.
they have a new webpage on their website and in their "FUN facts" they have statistics.
to me it seems like they are making fun of people.
like they list the most common boy/girl names.
whats the point of that?
to show mostly white/caucasian people [55% of entire student body] apply and are admitted?

Milton only had 15% acceptance rate this year with 1000 applications and 150 spots. Something felt weird and unstructured about Milton though. Why is there no Honors history or english?
Milton and Andover were both impersonal, except for a little note at the bottom of the letter from Andover. Groton said that the news was slightly unsatisfactory and went on being impersonal from there (waitlisted.) The head of the history department at Brooks sent me a note but I don't have my package so I can't say if they were personal or not.

Congratulations! You have been accepted for the Fourth Form at St. Paul's School beginning in September 2009. Among approximately 1,200 applicants to the School, you impress the Admissions Committee as one of the 250 who will make the St. Paul's community even more vibrant, exciting and diverse.

Your personal qualities, application and all that you have accomplished at xxxx xxxx School indicate that you will do great things at St. Paul's School and make us proud. Ms.xxx and Dr.xxx wrote positively about you as a person and as a student. We also believe you will make significant contributions to our basketball and track programs and be the type of student who will discover and develop new talents and interests here. Beyond all that you will learn and do at St. Paul's, we also know you will have fun--meeting new people from around the world, forming enduring friendships with adults and peers, and exploring the endless opportunities we offer. I sincerely hope that you share our conviction that St. Paul's is the ideal schools for you.

And then some junk about the Ten schools group and not being able to contact any students. The rest sounds generic, then a not from interviewer on bottom. We got 2 mails, one for me and one for my parents. The package hasn't come yet though unfortunately. Good very very generous FA package, now I KNOW I can go. Can't wait...

exeter's was very personal. it made me feel like "wow, they actually read my application" which is kind of dumb but it was sort of a realization that this was all happening.
rest was pretty standard.

Ya that's how I felt also. The one they wrote to my parents quoted what they said in the statement and said they were blown away by my crusade essay. Made me feel good, because that essay took me 6 good hours...straight.

The Tenth Grade Officer called today to say how much they liked my application at Andover. That made me happy and made it feel more personal.

Apparently, my essay fit so much to what they wanted that they said there was "nothing bad in it at all" and it was a "no brainer", being "among the best they had read."

I almost didn't apply there because my parents were choosing schools for me. I decided I liked Andover and decided I wanted to apply, being angry that I hadn't.

Brooks is still taking a really long time to get here.
