acceptance

I applied to 7 schools to get out of my current hellhole: College of the Holy Cross. I got a call from Smith College and I'm in! I'm just waiting for the three I like more to get back to me. I hope all of you hear back soon about acceptances because it feels good knowing you will be in a better place next semester!

where else you applied?

Vassar, Wesleyan, Brown, Barnard, Mount Holyoke, and Brandeis. Mount Holyoke and Brandeis are kind of out of the picture now because I like Smith more. But I love how liberal Vassar, Wesleyan, and Brown are and now phenomenal their theatre programs are. The co-ed thing is also a bonus. I don't know how good my chances are though. I know I won't get into Brown; but Vassar and Wesleyan (I'm hoping) aren't too out of the question. Now I'm going to stop typing an essay for this.

Congrats on the acceptance! I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for Wesleyan too. Good luck!

How conservative is College of the Holy Cross?

Most people are either conservative or apathetic. Some are moderate. Those that label themselves liberal really don't to anything. But the college is really a preppy rich kid's playground. There is very little race and class interaction. I's just not a very good environment in which to mature and study.

Same with Univ. of Delaware. Out of roughly 300 schools surveyed regarding political involvement/apathy, we ranked in the bottom five!!

theyelenator, then you SHOULD really get out of the place. What made you go there in the first place??!

Honestly, I got waitlisted at Barnard and Brandeis, my top 2 choices, and then neither school took me. It was down to Mount Holyoke, Conn College, Drew Uni, BU, and Holy Cross. Holy Cross is REALLY tough academically, it was coed, and closer to home. I figured that if I didn't like it, I would at least be close to home.

The really ****ty thing was that I initially didn't even know what I wanted in a school, but being a place that's SO not right for me made me realize what I needed. Now I know. I just hope my stats are enough to get me into Vassar or Wesleyan because I get giddy talking about them.

congrats! i hope you have a good time at a place that isn't your current college, you deserve it. i know what it is like to be stuck somewhere you don't want to be.

are you a freshman or sophomore?

I am of the freshman variety.
