You got denied by UCSC, but got into UCSB? Thats a rare combination if you ask me...

well my application is kinda unique, seeing as i'm older and applying based on work/research experience and test scores.

but yeah, when ucsc gave me the axe, i thought that was it for the uc system. then when i logged into the ucsb site expecting bad news i had to do a double take. it blew my mind that the higher ranked school accepted me, but the lower ranked one dissed me. in reality it just goes to show how much chance there is in this process.

to be honest, i would have preferred the atmosphere at santa cruz as i think it's better aligned with my personality, but i think i might just be able to live with santa barbara. : )

santa cruz is a good school though, given that it's new i think that the engineering department is headed in the right direction and will do a lot for the school. bioengineering is hot nowadays. congratulations to all those who were admitted!

i got in!! =D

The UCs are trying to spread their top applicants among their campuses so surprising decisions arent that, erm surprising. Thats what has happened with UCLA and UC Berkeley (people usually get into either one or the other), and now they are doing that with UCI, UCSC, UCSB, and UCD. Same goes for UCSD.

People who arent offered admission into any of those usually get Riverside or Merced
