I applied ED II to a school and was accepted. I then withdrew my apps from my other schools by sending letters through the mail. I just received two acceptances, one with Dean's scholarship. I told my college counselor who flipped out! She was so panicked about the whole thing I'm not sure what to make of it? Am I at risk of losing my admittance to my first choice school? - I've already sent the deposit and all...I did resend the withdraw letters to both schools again with a note this time thanking them but refusing their offer. Have I done enough? I just didn't think this would be such a big deal.

You’ve done enough, don’t worry.

I may be completely ignorant, but if those other colleges weren’t applied to ED, then why would it be such a big deal? I mean, you’re obviously not going to renege on your original ED acceptance, and that’s really the only big no-no.

I may not know something that your counselor knows, but it seems pretty simple to me, just matriculate at your ED school and don’t send in any deposits to the other schools.

simpson: one of the stipulations of ANY ED acceptance is a withdrawal of all other applications (although it seems that some on CC tend to conveniently ignore this…hint, hint-afitscher)

Liz: you have done your “due diligence”…you’re fine, but glad to see that there are some GC’s around the country who actually adhere to these rules…

I do realize that ED agreements stipulate withdrawals as soon as you find out, I just thought that at this point in the process, where a withdrawal would obviously have no effect having already been accepted, that little more was required of the OP.
