Accepted, but concerned

I was accepted under early decision to cornell university and I applied as a prospective computer science major. Upon applying, the only CS experience I had was a summer program’s cs class and I’m taking AP computer science A online b/c my school doesn’t have it. The thing is, I really really do not think I’m going to pass this AP CSa exam-I will try my best ofc, but I really do not know if I can even muster a 3. Does anyone know if my AP score for computer science this year will affect whether cornell will decide to rescind my application ? I’ve heard something like that from my calculus teacher about past students. I’m really worried. (I know it’s my fault for not studying harder, so please don’t comment something about me not trying hard enough. I’m aware)

Honestly, I think if you do well in the class (B or better), I wouldn’t be too worried about the AP exam. Try your best, but don’t stress over it.

Maybe someone else can weigh in if they know differently, but I’ve never heard of a school rescinding because of an AP exam score.

I’ve also never heard of a school rescinding due to an AP score. Your class grade is what they will care about. Many students do not take the AP test, which is why it isn’t a major factor in admissions decisions, if it is considered at all. Do your best to get a great grade in the class. The general rule is no D or F grades.

Btw, there is plenty of time to study between now and the AP exam.

No. As long as you pass the class, the AP exam score won’t cause you to be rescinded. You have no need to even submit AP scores that aren’t high enough to get you credit. Relax, pass your classes and enjoy your senior year. You will take CS1110 next year and do fine.

Nope. I was accepted in 2017. I began to coast through senior year. My grades dropped a bit, but it was not an issue. The only time Cornell will rescind an offer of admission for academic reasons is if your grades drop precipitously, say going from getting straight A’s to all C’s and D’s. Congrats on your acceptance!
