So if I get credit for, say, AP Calc and AP Physics, I would have to take less of these basic courses? Also, does AP English get me out of a writing seminar?

i'm majoring in chem, what classes will i be taking?

I think you need a 5 on the calc BC to place out of one semester of math, 5 on physics B for one semester of physics, equivalent to 4 or 5 on C mech, 5 on physics C E&M to place out of second semester physics, etc. I used AP English to get out of a writing seminar, so I didn't take one second semester. You have to check the current requirements online. Keep in mind this is only for engineering; other colleges have their own AP requirements.

girls -- live in balch, they have 2 closest PER PERSON. and share a sink with only one other person. I'm mad I didn't get balch in freshman yr, but now I live in the gothics, and my room is huge (big enough to fit a TV + coffee table + futon), and I'm jealous of balch rooms (especially singles), so you can surmise from there. don't be afraid of the all girls stigma -- there's not shortage of guys hanging around there, and guys will flock to you if they know you live there :-p

next best would be the townhouses. even though they are far way, they are super big (unless you live in the dungeons) because you have your own fridge, micro. living room and dining room area.

but, stay away from court singles, they are literally a shoebox. It is very small. some singles in dickson are small too, and if you live on the top floor, you might get screwed and have a sloping ceiling (hit your head when you wake up).

overall, if you request a double, and get a single, keep it and ask for more financial aid, they will give it to you! You will get a single for a price of a double!

north campus housing is the best. you get two super great dining halls, and an adequate gym, on top of that you are level with the rest of campus (well, more level than west campus).

anyways, good luck! (BTW, I think a 5 on calc BC gets you 2 semester in CAS, but don't remember, i only got 1 semester for a 5 in calc AB)

thanks quynh2007. when do we get dorm infos anyway... do we wait for all the RD? can we in any way request a certain roommate? or are they randomly selected?

jelstar- dorm info comes in april

in the past two years, we've gotten our dorm info on our classof website (another way to find out earlier in through Netpay, but that's waaay complicated) end of july, some even until early august. You can request a roommate, and if they request you too, then you will live together.

i wanna live in balch and have a single...is it hard to get one?

To study law, which undergraduate school offers the most electives

From what I have heard, you can usually get a single if you request it, but you cannot request which dorm you will be staying in.

I've heard Donlon is the best for social life but I also dont want to flunk out freshman year cuz I partied too much. Is it possible to live in Donlon, have a great time, and still maintain a good GPA? I'm looking to take a lot of business/economics/history/writing courses so I hope I won't have a massive workload like the engineering kids. Any thoughts? Also how is the workload in CAS for an econ or history major?

if you request to be in an all-girls dorm, you will get balch. the doubles in there are big too (you still get two closet per person and share a sink). i lived in donlon, but i didn't get to know my neighbors really well, so, i wasn't as social in donlon, but there's always places to study if you really get distracted easily.

Are the dorms in Donlon nice?

we can't request dorms?
