My son has applied LSA with preferred admission to Ross Business School, and been accepted by LSA without telling if he has been accepted into the preferred program to Ross or not. When would UMich make the decision?

Nobody knows. This is the first year Ross accepts students straight out of high school, so we are all waiting to see what will happen. But I would not hold my breath. If I were any judge of admissions at Michigan, I would say the acceptance rate for high school students into Ross this year will be under 20% as Ross wants a very limited number fresh out of high school. That's just a guess of course. Keep us posted.

Nobody knows how many they will take. It could be as few as 50 or as many as 100. And nobody knows how many wiull apply. It could be as few as 500 and as many as 1,000. Your son's credentials will make him competitive at schools like Ross and Wharton.

Yes, it is a completely different ball game. For one thing, this is a first for the B-School, so they are very cautious. Secondly, they can only admit a few students out of hundreds, if not thousands of applicants, so they want to see the whole picture before making final decisions.

The business school is going to make those decisions, not the admissions office. It's an entirely different group of people, as I understand it. Not that it makes the waiting any easier, I know.

I feel they're going to get a lot of applications.

After all its not like Wharton where to apply to Wharton you give up your chance at the college. For Ross all you have to do is check the box. It can't hurt to do it if you're interested in business at all.
