Accepted student: Stats, cost to attend, your choices

For those of you who were accepted and will attend:

  1. What are your stats (weighted GPA and SAT/ ACT)
  2. Where are you from?
  3. How much will you pay per year for tuition and room and board per year?
  4. Which other schools did you get accepted into?

Thank you! Your input will help so much in climbing the college mountain.

I might not be much help because I got in off of the waitlist and I have huge connections at Villanova along with legacy and so that definitely helped but here you go:

Stats:
UW GPA: 3.2 (thats very low for villanova but i got to an elite private school in nyc so)
W GPA: 4.15
ACT: 30

I am from New York City

I am not sure as I haven’t received my letter yet, but I’ll be paying full tuition at Nova so probably somewhere from 60-70k a year… not sure though, could be wrong.

I think essays and ECs really matter at Villanova and at most other schools so you should really focus on those as well. My ECs and essays were really good and that helped my application stand out a little bit.

I was accepted to: Colby College, American University, Miami of Ohio, CU Boulder, Syracuse University, Denison University, Fairfield University, Quinnipiac University, and University of Denver.

I was rejected at Wake Forest.

Oh and I was deferred then waitlisted and then accepted at Villanova.

Thanks. Just wondering, if you didn’t get into Villanova, which school would you have accepted as your 2nd choice and why?

@kyir11 Curious as to why Nova over Colby when you mentioned you have a Colby legacy too. Our S had similar choices as you including Denison (visited and really liked it)…Nova is a bit different from Colby in so many ways…Perhaps you don’t like the cold ! At any rate…Good Luck to you.S chose Colby…

UW GPA 4.1
ACT 33, SAT 1490
From public school in MA
Accepted Boston College, Univ of Rochester, Fordham, Providence College and several others

^^And applied Early Action.

@Collegelk I committed to Miami of Ohio over Colby, American, and Denison… @parentgeorgia you ask why Nova over Colby. Well in terms of elite academics, Colby and Nova are similar and I just think Nova has a more complete college experience to offer. Close to philly, big time basketball, a medium sized school, etc… Colby is in the middle of nowhere and is a tiny school. It’s really excellent but I just liked Nova more. I actually chose Miami of Ohio over Colby because I loved the campus (it’s gorgeous) and it’s a super cool school with a lot going on. Weird choice I know but I loved it. I chose where I thought I’d fit in best.

But that didn’t matter in the end because Villanova came through.

@kyir11. Understood. In the end it should come down to the individual vibe. Godspeed with congratulations as you are now a Red Hawk…!

@parentgeorgia no actually I am going to Villanova. I was waitlisted but then accepted off of the waitlist. Was excited to be a Red Hawk but couldn’t decline the offer to become a wildcat. sorry if that was confusing.

@kyir11, Either way…Another great choice. Villanova is a most highly regarded national University. We know many HS students at “feeder” St. Augustine schools for Villanova…A very impressive network and loyal community…Good Luck to you…!
