Accepted to LMU?

Anyone know what deferment from LMU really means? Applied for EA and letter back said they’re deferring the decision until all apps are in. Should I assume I’m out? Or is there a decent chance still?

Deferred means they are putting your early application in the pool with all the regular admission applications. so they will look at your application again, and you definately still have a chance.

just a heads up - a couple of years ago when my daughter was deferred from early action, lmu asked for her first semester sr year transcripts. i thought her school had sent it, but when I finally called lmu in april because we had not heard anything, turns out they did NOT have her transcripts. think their admissions office is very very disorganized. but this may have been our fault. but, we were surprised that lmu did not send an email saying it was missing.

****so, be sure to send them your grades from this semester as soon as they are in.

mee too.i will go there this year…i am from China .

Thanks BayAreaCAMom. Much appreciated.

I am a sophomore in high school and am not sure of my ending gpa but am pretty sure it will be like a 2.9/3.0. I am very talented musician but do not plan on majoring in music. I do a good amount of extra curriculars that are legit and play sports. What are the chances of me getting into LMU when i apply in two years?

a gpa of 2.9/3.0 is definately LOW for LMU. Seems as if almost all college look at your high school grades/gpa as the MOST IMPORTANT part of the application.

However, if you bring your grades up this year and Junior year, have very strong SAT/ACT scores, lots of Extra Curriculars, Community Service, a part time job, strong teacher recommendations, are Catholic, come from a very rigourous high school that would “handicap” or pad your low gpa, are from an ethnic minority group, are male, or first generation going to college, from out of California, and any combination of the above, it will help you! The Jesuit schools definately look at the “whole” person or package, not just the grades.

Good luck! Nothing wrong with making LMU your REACH school!! Just be sure to have good, and realistic SAFETY schools that you like - that is the KEY to this whole college thing, IMHO!

I got accepted to the Frank R. Seaver school and I am majoring in biology! Woo! Although, I live in Pittsburgh and am kind of freaking out about going to a school across the country.

Daughter received her acceptance on Friday, Business. Yoohooo! So nice to hear and know! Now she just has to wait for the state school decisions to come out, then she has some hard decisions to make!
