Relax. You can go there and take two years to decide... and even then you can change your mind again. You get accepted to Rice, not the school of engineering. You can take classes in any department, and you have two years to declare a major. (My daughter has already changed majors 3 or 4 times. ) The majors don't "fill up". :)

well, thats a relief :)

Thanks a lot anxiousmom...

yea i dont kow if i will do biochem or bioengeneering so i was happy when i heard it didnt matter

I'm in the same boat as you, serge. Are you planning on starting out with BioE or biochem?

well i was thinking about starting as biochem althought that doesnt mean anything at all because i havent favored one or the other one in my mind. on friday, i went to baylor medical school to interview with an MD. PHD. researcher with whom i will work this ummer on stem cell research and he told me after i asked him that questions that they will both prepare me for medical school very well. also, bioe is more especific on tissue engeneering and similar things and that relates to stem cell research, which is what im interested in so lately i have been considering that alot. although biochemistry is a very interesting major too. it is a tough choice. the initial classes are about the same..it is until later when they specialize and take different paths. just wait and see i guess.
