My son is unsure what he should do. He has a full scholarship to another college but has been accepted to USNA. He has accepted both. He still has a full Spring soccer schedule and injuries do happen. I know that 2 people had injuries last year prior to I-Day and were disqualified. What are your opinions on keeping the other scholarship open until he passes physical on I-day? I'm not sure he can even do this because at his school's award ceremony, won't both places be represented? I don't know if he will let me wrap him in bubble wrap for this soccer season, plus the USNA coach is supposed to come watch him play. Your opinions are most welcome.

Many have said to have a back-up plan. One suggestion was to keep both active until I Day. Another was to write / talk to the other school and ask to deferr the scholarship for 1 year. Many schools do this as some students do a year abroad before starting college. Then come up with a time frame to let them know. Honesty is usually a good policy and since I day is in June they may be ok with that. It seems to get a little tricky if someone doesn't get through Plebe Summer. Congrats to your son...that is wonderful! We would love to be in your situation! Still waiting though! JM

Thank you very much! Good luck!

I spoke to the college today and they said for him to go ahead and send in his scholarship acceptance letter. They were very impressed with his Naval Academy Appointment. Said, that once he gets there and passes his physical that he can write them and tell them and that it will be no problem. That's great! I can breathe a little easier now. I still think the bubble wrap is a good idea. lol Missylou

Some colleges aren't as flexible, but most are pretty good about it. Congrats to your son! btw, my mom would like to send me out with bubble wrap also. I'm hittin' the track pretty hard these days.
