So I took the redesigned SAT and pre-registered to send scores to my top four college choices for free.
Unfortunately, my score ended up being lower than I expected, but there was no way for me to cancel the score reporting.
So basically, I now have a 35C ACT score and a 1500 rSAT score that have both been sent to my dream schools, including Stanford.
Should I re-take the SAT to make it align more with the 35 ACT (right now, 1500 is equivalent to a 33 ACT) or should I hope for the best and work on my essays and other aspects of my application?
Colleges profess that when you submit both an ACT and SAT test that they use to determine admission the one that has the higher composite score, although some say they also look at a better section score from the other test if it will help you (e.g., a higher math may be considered from one test for engineering even though the other test with the higher composite is the main one used to decide admission). All claim they will not use lower scores against you.
Thus, in your situation there is no need to retake the SAT unless you believe colleges are lying, and I am unaware of any evidence to establish that they are.
I think Stanford will ask for both of them on the application. Don’t stress about it. 35 ACT is awesome. Do waste your time retaking the SAT. I was in a similar situation. 34 ACT and a lower equivalent SAT. I sent them both and was accepted class of 2020. Do you self a favor and use the extra time on your essays.
