I feel like my Financial Accounting book is missing something, as it regularly has about 10 pages of questions in every 50 page chapter, but literally no answers to any of them. There is no way to check my work, and for all I know, I’m doing something wrong and reinforcing bad habits by doing it over and over again.
I went to B&N and Books-A-Million to find a book with both questions and answers… no dice. I looked at over a dozen books(everything they had) and literally not one single book has answers to any of these questions. Not even as a separate companion issue.
I could really use a Financial Accounting book(and Managerial Accounting as well) with both questions AND answers. Does such a book exist? I’m even fine with a regular book with no answers and a companion guide with answers. I just cannot find something like this, anywhere. Anything even sort of current(2000+) is fine.
Why don’t you ask your professor(s) if they can possibly provide you with answers to some of the problems not assigned as homework so you can get extra practice?
If you go to amazon and request “financial accounting solutions manual” and “managerial accounting solutions manual” you should find some – looks like they are sold separately from the textbooks. You would likely have to buy the related textbook as well so you have the problems that are answered in the solution manual.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have two, now. Hopefully that’s enough.
My accounting professor has only given four lectures this semester. She mostly just doesn’t show up to class. She has only assigned us any homework, once. The subs have been the ones who sporadically give us homework(when we have subs). Over half of our classes have just had a paper on the door that says “No class today”.
If I had an engaged teacher, I wouldn’t need this stuff. I’m pretty much flying blind into every test, because I have only some idea what’s even going to be on the test. And I get no feedback on anything I do(we just receive a grade, we do not get to see the test/homework with mistakes marked). I’m on the low end of a B and have the 2nd highest grade in my class of 40 students.
My $.02 - I’d make sure the department head (and/or dean of the business school ) knows all about this. Financial accounting not among the subject matters I would want to try to learn on my own. Good luck!
^^^^I agree. I’d raise a complaint with the department head and even the dean of the business school. These are core classes and if you don’t learn the basics well it will be very difficult to successfully move forward with upper level classes. As a short term solution see if you can sit in on (or even transfer to) another section of the class if that is an option.
My S had this issue with intermediate accounting and it became a huge problem. The tests were departmental tests and his section missed over half of the classes. The kids complained and in all honesty nothing was done — but it got so bad that eventually multiple parents called the Dean and complained as well. It finally got resolved successfully but it was really bad for a while. If things kept going the way they were, it really could have derailed the kids in that section.
