I was accused of cheating by my anatomy teacher during an exam. Before the class, I had written a little helpful hints thing on my hand. (Writing it down helps me study). Then I went to Anatomy and asked to go to the bathroom so I could wash off the marker. Of course it was red permanent marker and it wouldn’t come off all the way! I didn’t use my hand throughout the test. When I got to part 6, we had to identify different slides and name them. My friend sitting next to me asked me “what was number 9?” I saw my teacher looking at me and ignored my friend. Right after, my teacher called me outside of the classroom and I was very apologetic and told her I didn’t even reply to my friend when she asked. But my teacher then said “no, what is that?” And pointed at my hand. It was faded and illegible to read and I hadn’t looked at it the whole test. But she’s convinced she saw me. I had to plea to not make a big scene when we went back into the classroom. She then told me I received a 0 on the test and I will be receiving a referral. I am going to get kicked out of National Honors Society and possibly National Dance Honors Society. Will I still be able to get into a good college? I’m so worried. I wanted to get into The University of Maryland, College Park, but it looks like that dream is gone. Please help.
If you’re not guilty, get your parents involved now.
From your teacher’s perspective, writing notes on your hand helps you cheat. If your intent wasn’t to cheat, you’d have searched out a piece of paper. Surely someone at your school had some. You’ll have to have an honest chat with your guidance counselor to see how the incident will be handled in your applications.
