It works great for some, horrible for others.

I'm on it now, and it's worked wonderfully for my face, but then there's the...hair thinning, hair loss, severe depression. I don't know if it's worth it for me to be on it right now. But again, I had very thick hair, and I have a lot of it, so no one really notices.

I've never taken it, but I've discovered that swimming daily/often or floating in chlorinated water daily/often really works wonders at treating acne...just be prepared to moisturize afterwards or else your skin and lips are going to turn death-white

I was on Accutane and it worked great. No side effects at all. However, I feel like maybe I might have to go for a second round though since it seems to be coming back pretty aggressively.

Im not trying to overide any Dermatologists here or anything. But most of the time commercial and prescription products make acne worse. The cure for some people is just using non synthetic natural and if possible organic body care products. All of thos Sythethic Chemicals like SLS and ALS, as well as PEG and PPG really have no place, in or on the human body. Just try some all natural oil based soap like Castile with glycerin. But some Natural shampoo. Burts Bees makes great products that are readily available.

I know this helped my acne alot. Hope it helps some others also.

There are different types of acne, you seem to have the bacterial kind. Chlorine kills bacteria, no bacteria == no acne so you should be using antibacterial soap like Dial or if that doesn't do it, try a stronger soap like Hibiclense. Thogh Tea Tree Vastile soap should be great for you.

^ Antibacterial soap doesn't have as great results... They generally just make my skin really really dry and at the end of the day there's no difference between their effects and those of regular cleanser.

I think it's more like the whole [more intense][shorter timespan] vs. [gentler][longer amount of time] thing... Overall, the latter puts your skin through less stress (at any particular moment in time) and you can get a lot more effect out of it if you can put in the longer amount of time.

[bad] analogy time: it's like soaking a bloodstained shirt in water for a really really long time vs. washing it intensely for a couple minutes...usually the former works better

edit: the swimming/acne relationship may also be due to stress or healthiness/fitness or other factors though..

you do know that the more your soap lathers the more drying it is right? Glycerin is what truly moisturizes skin, not the synthetic stuff. But use what you think is best.

If chlorine gets rid of your acne its due to it killing the bacteria and really cleaning your skin. If you haven't tried hibiclense then you really don't know.
