If you have acne..what do you use to use control it? And does it work well? And do you visit the dermotologist? Oh, if you're posting..could you also tell how much acne ..like mild, very little pimples, severe, etc..you have?

I don't have much acne anymore. Try using stuff with Benzoyl Peroxide like I did. It really works. Don't ever trust those cleansers or face washes--they do not work on any type of acne. Have fun... Btw, try asking the pharmacist (sp?) too..

I used to have mild acne in jr. high. I used BP and antibiotics.

How bad is your skin?

Oh..I don't have really bad skin..I was just wondering what people used. I heard benzoyl peroxide was good. I use tea tree oil..it really helps..but I have to but it online--7 bucks for .5 fl oz. But you don't use a whole lot everyday..like one or 2 drops because it's really strong.

when i was in around 7th grade, i didn't have terribly bad acne, but some in some bad areas (nose, around the mouth) and i believe i used something called differin, and it helped to get rid of it

i think u need a prescription for it though

personally, i like how i suffered that acne crap earlier, my friends never did, but it's starting to come out now for them, and i got nada, Hah!

accutane does wonders - for everyone i know who has used accutane had the best results...of course you cant be pregnant while using it =D

dont have any

I have it occasionally, but it's not all over my face..just one or 2 bumps. Go see the doctor. I have this prescription stuff that usually makes it go a way over night.

How can I get rid of scars from high school without any laser surgery?

I mix clearasil with some lotion so my face doesn't get too dried up

Liquid Neutrogena works wonders. Also, be sure to stay away from chocolate and not to skimp out on too much sleep.

I am not familiar with Neutrogena's Acne line but I'd be willing to bet that it works.

with acne medecines you will not get quick results, a clear face will be gained after atleast 1 year of constant use and i have heard that many products like clearasil dont have any effect, i was thankful and only had a mild case-lasting only for a couple of months and then no more-used differein and in 3-4 months no acne ever again-also eat food that are good for your skin-i think vitamin E-try taking vit e pills, drinking a lot fo juices,no sodas, candy etc. i know this is not possible in the teenage life but try atleast cutting down on sodas and good luck

usna - i once used Retin-A and it helped with scars. http://www.absoluteacneinfo.com has some stuff (forums).

Chocolate won't cause acne..only if you touch your face after eating chocolate..or if you touch with your face often in general. The actual food doesn't cause the acne. And tea tree oil works really quickly for me, it doesn't take a year. =

I had acne when I was younger... Honestly the best cure for me has simply been age.

i had pretty bad ance from 6th-11th grade and it wasn't untill junior year that i found a cure. First you need to drink a lot of water. Sounds strange but healthy skin need to be moist and so you have to drink a lot water. (i got this from a friend's dermatologist) I drink two liters a day. I also apply neutrogena on-the-spot treatment (are you allows to say product names?) It is just benzoyl peroxide but i found this product to work better than others that contain benzyol. I apply it generously to my entire face and neck twice daily. You also need a soap that won't dry out your face. Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser works great. It is meant for really sensitive skin but it works really well. By just doing this my skin has been clear for about 9 months now.

Before i found this solution i had one experience with clear skin. I went to germany for a few weeks sophomore year and drank alcohol on a daily basis. While i was there my skin was almost perfect and when i came back my skin got bad again. I didn't figure out that it was the alcohol until i came back and noticed my skin was always clearer on sunday and monday which was caused from drinking on fri/sat. I can't explain why, its just an observation i made. It does seem to contradict my hydration therory since alcohol dehydrates you but nevertheless it made my skin a lot clearer.

i hope this helps

Yeah, I know the water helps..but alcohol?? That's really strange..I've never heard that anywhere and I've never heard of any benefits whatsoever with alcohol. You could do a research project ;) And the on-the-spot treatment..is it the acne advantage? I heard that it makes permanent marks in your skin or something..but if it's not acne advantage, which on the spot treatment could you use for your whole face & neck? Usually really little comes out, so it's hard to get a lot to put all over your face unless you put it in a cotton ball or something?

Plagmayer, are you sure it wasn't because you were on vacation (and assuming you weren't stressed out) and that the weather conditions in Germany favored your skin? (I liked your suggestions in the first paragraph though! :))

Alcohol can worsen acne because it is an astringent. It shrinks the skin pores and makes them more prone to clogging. Alcohol messes up sleep and can cause more fatigue and stress which can lead to worse skin.

Also, don't drink too much water! If you're consuming glasses of water one after the other non-stop, there's a point where the beneficial effects would disappear (water intoxication). In severe cases, this can lead to convulsions and seizures.

I know the alcohol thing seems really wierd but it really did work for me. A research project would be kinda tough since most acne victims are under 21. I don't know what acne advantage is, so i assume it's not it. It is just a white cream that comes in a small tube. It is called "Neutrogena On-the-Spot Ance treatment". It isn't hard to get enough out of it for your whole face. A clump about the size of an m&m is enough for your whole face and neck. You can get it at wal mart. I never heard of an acne treatment leaving permanent marks so i am not sure about that. I don't have any.

If you're using too high concentrations of something or for certain prescription medicines, peeling, redness, and irritation are common. If you're going to use benzoyl peroxide (I think I've heard that 5% works just as well as 10%) it will stain your clothes. So wear white if you're applying it to your neck or back or something.

Oh and the general rules of skin care revolve around drinking enough water, exfoliating twice a week, washing your face twice a day (but no more than thrice because of irritation), getting enough sleep (stress is an acne trigger!), and diet and exercise would help. ;)

the alcohol thing does seem odd but after i was in germany for 3 weeks, i immediatly went on vacation on a tour/ cruise of alaska for 2 weeks. Being in alaska and not drinking(while still on vacation), my acne came back. Perhaps the whether was a factor but it was the same temperature in germany as at home; however alaska was a lot colder. My diet might have been a factor though, i ate completley different there than i normally do, although a lot people say food doesn't affect ance. Also, after drinking on weekends with my friends i noticed my skin would always be better on sunday monday than on thursday and friday. It seems like the drinking would be the only thing that would be differnt unless the lower stress on the weekends attributed to it. Lastly i did notice sometimes when i crashed at friends houses and we would drink, i would wake up after a night of not washing my face and i wouldn't have any extra pimples. Normally after not washing my face i owuld have tons of pimples in the moring. It seemed to work for me. However alcohol has differnt effects on differnet people. Perhaps it was psychological but 1-2 drinks seemed to make my ance better. maybe it helped to dry out my oily skin since alcohol does dehyrate. I wouldn't recommend this type of treatment but it seemed to work for me.
