@ leftwichqb7 The “dual passage” was announced on June 6th. Some of the reading comprehension questions – to date based on single passages – will be based on comparing or drawing information from two separate passages.

ACT also announced a change in math
Probability and statistics may see a very slight increase in the mathematics section (from 3 questions to 4 out of 60).

The dual passage was on the June and October test. So yeah, it looks like they’re settling in with this change. Incidentally, it was the humanities one on both…

That dual passage freaked me out man. Maybe I’m too sensitive about changes to the ACT, but I finished with a 23 on the reading when I usually get a 31. That passage about the dust threw me off even further. Also if someone hasn’t mentioned it, the science test has changed. No more 5 question passages. All 6’s and 7’s. I guess this is permanent then, right?

I don’t think it’s getting harder granted that my experience is two successive tests, June and September 2014. I got a 31 on the first and 34 on the second one. I thought the whole test in general was really easy and only did two practice tests in between each one and read the Princeton Review section on essay writing (which really helped I went from 8 to 11).

Yup, it’s true. I’m jealous of my brother who took it almost ten years ago and easily got a high composite. My current score is below his, but he doesn’t understand that the ACT currently is like, 2-3x harder than the one he took when he was a junior. ><

To be perfectly honest, I didn’t find my December 2014 national administration significantly different than tests 4 and 5 in the Red Book, which I understand are from several years ago. Then again, I feel like my test happened to be a particularly easy one compared to other months.
Indeed… On my last practice test (I think the 3rd one in the red book) before taking the april ACT, I got a 34 or something. However, I think I’ll get like a 0 on the science. I don’t think it’s very fair…
The Dual Passages have been around longer than you think. Before it appeared on the June 2014 Released test, it was being given to the Sunday testers as far back as 2013. I guess they were the experimental group before it went National.
