Hello, I am a current sophomore who has decided they would like to take the ACT, SAT, or both next summer (the summer before I become a junior). My freshman year, I got a 34 on the preACT (the test is out of 35, and it is similar in format to the real ACT). I also got a 1480 on the psat this year. Which test(s) would you take if you were me, based on these scores? Would it be unwise to take both tests? Thank you!
Your ACT is slightly higher but they are close enough to pick the test that feels the most comfortable.
Yes, they are quite comparable. There’s not really anything unwise about taking both, other than the time & cost. Did you feel more comfortable taking one or the other? If you did well on the Science section, the ACT may be the choice.
IMO, the PreACT is really not a good indicator of your ACT score. I’ve taken both, but the PreACT is super redacted than the actual ACT. The PSAT is much more like the real deal, except for the general difficulty of the test. I would advise taking the SAT.
