ACT science portion...

is a joke, i took it sophmore year and i got a 23, does anyone have any stradgies, or suggestions in study skills concerning the science and math portion..

what are the best prep-ACT books to buy? baron? sparknotes?

any tricks in answering the science and math questions on the test?

I say do this...take a practice test once (real act prep book) without any time constraints and make sure you can get them all right. Most people who have taken upper level science courses have all of the basic knowledge required for success...but it appears you may not. Report back to us with the results, but basically: if you can get a 35/36 then you simply need to practice a lot, but if you cannot then it means you have to study basic science again.

There is nothing in the science portion that requires you to know any science, all you need to be able to do is read and interpret graphs thats all there is to it. But there is no doubt that knowing about what is being discussed does help.

You're right, it is a joke. How could something so easy get onto a standardized test?

Yeah, I went there.

Anyways, you just have to be able to interpret a graph and manage your time well. There's really not much you can do to prepare for it.

does anyone suggest not even reading the passage and just going to the questions?

I always go straight to the questions, and it seems to work pretty well.
